This job works closely with a number of research scientists to provide synthetic and analytical chemistry, material, and equipment support on key research and development projects.
Key responsibilities: 1. Works as part of a team in a laboratory supporting research scientists in developing, screening and commercializing new products and process.
2. Work closely with key chemists and engineers on a project to troubleshoot customer issues.
3. Manages and then safely executes laboratory work requests, maintaining and running relevant laboratory apparatus and testing equipment and documenting data
4. Accurately and reliable records readings and observations using relevant equipment and instruments. Promptly and effectively communicates issues to Technology Leader and lead scientists in order to enable or accelerate problem resolution.
5. Develops understanding for when and how to utilize Management of Change processes when new tasks are needed.
6. Actively participate in work group team meetings to address safety, process improvement, problem solving, and other work group, department, and functional topics.
7. Works as a role model for other personnel in terms of safety and housekeeping.
The employee will be expected to attend monthly building safety meetings and participate in a safety committee and adhere to quality standards applicable to business. Under the supervision of DOW lab personnel, duties of the job includes: accurate data entry of quality results, inventory management, RCRA waste training, and lab support to successfully advance research projects. The applicant must have effective communication skills, can efficiently use Microsoft Office, demonstrate the ability to work independently with little supervision (once fully trained), and assist other lab technicians to maintain team productivity. Other skills would be: strong safety mindset, basic chemistry knowledge, fast learner, some mechanical skills and housekeeping awareness.
